Final Joint Dissemination Event

The final Dissemination Event of the QATRAIN2 project took place on Friday 25th September 2009 in Brussels, Belgium. The title of the event was 'Creativity and Innovation in Education, Training and Employment'. It was held jointly with:

  • VM2 (Validating Mentoring 2)
  • E Access II (Supporting Vocational Education and Training of Disadvantaged User Communities)
  • ETTAD (Enabling Teachers and Trainers to improve the Accessibility of Adult Education)
  • GOALNET (Game On Accessible Learning Programme )
  • ENEVA (European Portal for the presentation of EU projects concerning disabled people)
  • EPDP (Educational Platform for Physically Disabled People)
  • KEYCOMKIT (Key Competences Kit for facing Lifelong Learning)
  • ESTEEM (Empowerment Through Study Training Enabling Education and Mentoring
  • SEN (Social Employers Network)
  • Ageing Working Force Project

A presentation was given by a user of the QATRAIN2 web resource in Bulgaria. Gergana Kolchakova, headmistress of a school for young people with learning disabilities, commented:

"It was really an honour for me and my colleagues to use this resource.  We not only tested it but it proved to be so efficient that we use it in our daily work.  The materials available are easily accessible and understandable.  One of the most important parts is the description of the characteristics of the disability and how it can impact on learning and teaching.  It is exactly the kind of information we need to assist us in our daily work.  We use the web resource to create tailor-made programmes for our service users.  We have been facing a huge transition in attitude towards people with disabilties in the last 10 years.  Despite the introduction of new laws to protect the rights of disabled people, there is still a lot of work to be done.  I believe projects such as these will make the transition much easier and will benefit our children."

The motivation of the participants, their knowledge and above all, their willingness to share their knowledge was highly impressive. I whole heartedly congratulate all these people, who work on these projects about people with disabilities with extreme motivation and dedication. I presented and participated as a panelist as well.
